Introduction to Dorte Østergaard Jakobsen’s universe

Textile artist Dorte Østergaard Jakobsen works with design installations. Design installation is a fitting term for the cross-over between art and design that takes place in Dorte Østergaards work.
Her pieces are not isolated design objects but a spacious total experience that brings all sense into play, making her professional background as a textile designer go hand in hand with artistic and conceptual projects.
Such as banners of patterned textiles, acrylic walls, lights, sounds, and furniture incorporated and merged into a bodily and sensuous experience of the installation as a whole. 

Dorte Østergaards art has been on exhibition in museums and galleries in Denmark,
Japan, Israel, Brazil, Germany, Italy, and Iceland.
